With the regular season fast-approaching, the Blues have been cutting their roster down to meet league requirements. There haven’t been any big surprises so far, but more cuts are still to be made. As far as the Junior players are concerned, Stephen MacCaulay, Cody Beach, and Chris Desousa have all been sent back to their respective teams. No problems there, as all of those guys have plenty of time before they need to contribute to the big club.

The first round of cuts for the big boys went down today, and Brennan Evans, Graham Mink, David Spina, Ryan Reaves, Adam Cracknell, Dean Arsene, and Brett Sonne have all been sent to Peoria. Again, nothing to write home about, as all of these guys were expected to start in the AHL. The fact of the matter is, this roster has pretty much been set since this summer, so don’t expect any more surprises. The biggest question will likely be on the blue line, namely in the form of Alex Pietrangelo. I still think the future is now for the talented young defenseman, but the coaching staff will get the final call. If he doesn’t make the squad out of camp, you have to think he will be in St. Louis before long, but the team will really be able to use his talent as long as he is ready.
