Charity Roundup; Blues to aid Joplin Tornado Victims

A week ago today, May 22nd, a devastating EF-5 tornado ripped through the southern half of Joplin, Missouri, completely destroying homes, schools and any kind of shelter in it’s path. Families have been left with nothing and are seeking assistance in any way, shape or form, from any agency willing and able to help. Many emergency employees were needed throughout the town in the immediate hours and days following the disaster but families are still left seeking shelter, clothing and food. The St. Louis Blues have partnered up with both United Way of Greater St. Louis and the St. Louis Foodbank to host a food drive to support those affected and displaced by the Joplin tornado.

On Wednesday, June 1st from 4-7p at Scottrade Center, fans and supporters can drop off their non-perishable food items while TJ Oshie, Barret Jackman, Ben Bishop and Tyson Strachan take the donations and collect items for the food drive. Everyone who donates will be treated to a free ticket to a 2011 St. Louis Blues pre-season game. Northern Edge Elite Hockey has offered to serve as an alternate drop-off point for the food drive. Anyone unable to make it to Scottrade is welcome to donate at Northern Edge Elite Hockey’s Chesterfield location at 178 Chesterfield Industrial Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63005 on Tuesday from 9a-5p and Wednesday from 9a-3p and they will take all donations to Scottrade on Wednesday evening.
