Game on! The St. Louis Blues drop the puck on their preseason schedule tonight at the Scottrade Center where they play the Tampa Bay Lightning. Game time is 7:00. There is no TV, but tickets were still available as of this writing. Tonight’s action marks the first of 5 straight days with the ‘Note in action.
The team has split it’s preseason roster into two teams, with each team alternating the back-to-back games. Keep reading for the lineup for tonight’s game.
“Team Blue” will be led by newly-appointed captain David Backes. New Blues’ Jamie Langenbrunner, Jonathan Cheechoo and Evegeny Grachev will also make their debut in the Bluenote.
In goal, Coach Davis Payne has indicated that Brian Elliot will start and play the entire game. This is notable because usually in the preseason, many teams rotate goalies. Jake Allen is slated to provide backup. Presumably, this means Halak and Bishop will be your goalies for tomorrow’s game.
Among the young players fighting (figuratively) for a roster spot include: Brett Ponich, Anthony Nigro, Brett Sonne, Mark Cundari and Danny Syvret.
For the ‘Bolts, Mathieu Garon will start in goal and Jaroslav Janus will play the back half of the game.
Tampa Bay Online has the story from their perspective.
As previously mentioned, no TV or radio coverage in St. Louis, however, the Lightning Radio Network will be carrying it live. You can hear a live stream at 7:00 Central here (link opens a media player).
