Alex Steen has reportedly failed his mandatory baseline test. Steen has not played in a game since the December 27th game against the Detroit Red Wings. It has not been revealed how or when exactly Steen was injured, but it is believed that the injury occurred the night before in the game against the Dallas Stars. With concussions, a player either has one or he doesn’t. It is really as simple as that. However, recovery from concussions is another story. Blues fans know quite well how long concussions can keep players out. David Perron missed 97 games over two seasons with a serious concussion. Andy McDonald has also missed numerous games over the last two seasons with concussions. On the flip side, Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber suffered a concussion a few days before Steen, on December 23rd and has resumed skating. He did however pass the baseline test.
