The Blues got a lot of production out of Berglund, who outperformed both expectations and a rookie contract in his third season in St. Louis. Berglund, who was primarily the third line center, was a tied for third on the team in goals with 19, and sixth on the team in assists with 19. But, his most important contribution over the regular season was his reliability on a Blues’ penalty kill that ranked 7th in the NHL, and even registered two short-handed goals.
Berglund consistently impressed Blues’ fans over the long season, and is clearly developing into a pillar stone for this up and coming franchise. The young forward definitely needs to be re-signed long term, as he is a restricted free agent after the 2012-2013 season.
