The Blues signed Jamie Langenbrunner to a one-year contract for an undisclosed amount for 2012-2013. Langenbrunner had 24 points (6 goals, 18 assists) last season as primarily a third line player. The 36-year old veteran provided leadership for a young St. Louis team that won the Central Division for the first time since 2000-2001.
Also on Tuesday, the Blues traded forward BJ Crombeen and a 2013 fifth-round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning for their 2013 and 2014 fourth-round picks. The underwhelming Crombeen had only 3 points in 2012, but was a consistent enforcer, registering 71 penalty minutes in only 40 games last season.
