While Coach Ken Hitchcock had said after last night’s loss to the Anaheim Ducks that if Halak was not ready to come back on Monday that Jake Allen would get the start in net for the Blues, today GM Doug Armstrong announced that Jaroslav Halak has been activated to the Blues lineup and Jake Allen has been reassigned to the Peoria Rivermen.
This means that Blues fans should expect Halak to be in net tomorrow night against the Los Angeles Kings who come into St. Louis following a two game losing streak and a dismal start to their season.
Halak, who suffered a groin strain on February first against the Detroit Red Wings, had to watch from the sidelines as the Blues fell from second in the Central to the fourth amid a four game losing streak. Halak has been skating in practice since Thursday last week but did not begin seeing shots until Saturday morning. Blues goalie coach Corey Hirsch said that Halak felt good on Saturday so it is no surprise that he has been activated and should be ready to go tomorrow.
Halak has appeared in 5 games for the Blues this season posting a 3-0-0 record with a 2.10 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage including two shutouts. Those two shutouts have kept Halak tied for the most in the league this season.
More to come as we have it.
LET’S GO BLUES!
