On February 10th, St. Louis Blues Captain David Backes and defenseman Barret Jackman visited two local animal shelters to take part in the Great American Pooch Smooch & Kitty Kiss as part of a Valentine’s Day promotion to help raise the awareness about pets needing adoption. During the event Backes and Jackman were joined by Mayor Francis Slay and their wives who together kissed hundreds of pets who were up for adoption. During the Blues intermission they have shown video of the event including interviews with both players.
The event was said to show that these pets need love just like the rest of the pets who have already found homes. Backes is well known for his love of dogs and has even made trips across the country to save pets in need.
For more information on when the event was held and about the shelters who worked in conjunction with the event, check out the story on the Blues website here.
