As the trade deadline comes to a close, the St. Louis Blues announced that they have traded veteran defenseman Wade Redden to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a conditional 2014 7th round draft pick.  The pick becomes a 2014 6th round pick if Redden plays one or more playoff games with the Bruins.

The move reduces the Blues defensive core to 8 after the acquisitions of Jay Bouwmeester and Jordan Leopold.

Redden, 35 years of age, has dressed in 23 games for the St. Louis Blues posting two goals, three assists, and a -1 rating.  Redden was signed after his contract was bought out by the New York Rangers.  The move to Boston will reunite Redden with his former teammate and partner Zdeno Chara.
