Stanely Cup Playoffs 2013: Time for the St. Louis Blues to Rally the Troops

The St. Louis Blues enter game six of the Western Conference Quarterfinals tonight in Los Angeles down 3-2 in the series.  The Blues had come out strong winning the first two games against the Kings at home and looked to be headed to the second round of the playoffs.

Now, after five games the Blues find themselves just one loss away from the end of their season.  In their last seven games at the Staples Center in Los Angeles the Blues have gone 0-6-1.  It is time for the streak to end.

There are no more excuses, no more apologies.  If this is the team that we have believed they are all season then they owe it to us to at least win game six tonight.  I believe that we are the better team.  The Blues might not have the star power of the Kings or the flashy players on our side of the ice, but we have something that they don’t.  The Blues are a team of equals.  No one on this team is better than the other.  We score by committee.  We have 8 defensemen on our roster.  We have two starting goaltenders.  We have more first round draft picks than most teams.  The blue note that they wear on their chest means more than words can describe.  It is the history, the passion, and the excitement that this club has managed throughout it’s history.

If Tom Stillman and the new ownership are investing in this team than the players need to step up and do it now.  We need to capitalize on our scoring, we need to keep pucks away from our net, we need to have everyone on the ice skating as hard as they can even if it takes 200 minutes.  The team knows there are no excuses and tonight they will bring everything they have to the Staples Center in hopes of forcing a game seven.

We need to rally our own troops.  We need fans posting positive messages.  We need to tune in and watch the Blues do what they haven’t all season; win in Los Angeles.  This is our team so let’s own it.  Let’s go to Facebook and cheer on our team.  Let’s own Twitter and make #STLBlues trend more than it ever has.  Let’s share our passion in the comments below, on our Facebook, in any way you can.

This is our team.  This is St. Louis’ team.  We need to rally our troops.  Wherever you are, right now, stand up and yell LET’S GO BLUES!  If anyone has a problem with it just repeat it again even louder.  If you are in class, get your class to chant with you.  If you are at work, get the entire office to chant.  If you are in your car, honk you horn and get others to follow.  We need to show our support all over this city, all over this state, all over the country so our Blues know they have to win tonight.
