During the lockout Backes was part of a group of players that stayed close to the negotiations to make sure that they got the best deal possible.
Now, less than a year later, Backes is helping out the players in another way. Joined with Pietrangelo, Backes will be part of the Competition Committee discussions.
The two St. Louis Blues stars will give input on how the game is played. The meetings hope to obtain recommendations from the NHL and NHLPA for rule changes, scheduling, equipment changes (mainly visors), and other various items.
With the help of other NHL executives and players, along with one lone referee, the committee will create a lot of change in the NHL.
It is nice to know that the hometown boys are getting their say in the process and becoming leaders in the player community as well as in the locker room in St. Louis.
More as we have it.
LET’S GO BLUES!
