NHL Free Agency: St. Louis Blues Looking to Sign Jarome Iginla?

The St. Louis Blues are in need of scoring and a veteran presence on the bench. Are rumors true that GM Doug Armstrong is interested in adding Jarome Iginla?

Recently, Adrian Dater tweeted the following:

While Iginla could be the answer to the Blues veteran problem, they would most likely not have the kind of money to make such a deal.  Perhaps the Blues could make such a deal, but it would take signing Chris Stewart and Alex Pietrangelo to budget friendly deals, and I don’t think that is going to happen.

Andy Strickland has been reporting that the Stewart negotiations look as though they are headed for arbitration, but Doug Armstrong has said he is looking to improve the team through a splash in free agency.

Who knows what the Blues have planned, but do you think Iginla is in their future?

More as we have it.

I think that the Blues should sign Iginla, let Stewart walk, and sign Pietrangelo also. That’s my opinion, though.

If nothing else they would really want to trade Stewart. He is a quality player that is only going to get better. He would thrive in the East and I am a big fan of his. I am not sure Iginla has the speed needed to keep up with the NHL much longer. His skill and vision will keep him in the game for a long time to come, but he won’t be a top 6 guy much longer in my opinion.
