The St. Louis Blues are in a position that many teams in the NHL would envy. Currently the Blues have two goalies capable of leading the team and GM Doug Armstrong may be looking to use one of them as a bargaining chip.
Halak battled injuries throughout the season. He looked out of shape and did not appear ready for the season to happen. With the proper training this offseason, Halak could be back to his usual self, but 2013 left many people wondering if he has what it takes.
Elliott didn’t lock in until a brief conditioning stint in the AHL, but came together when it mattered most for the Blues. Elliott has not had any playoff success with this team though which is also a cause for concern.
Still, the Blues could look to clear up some salary by moving Halak in a trade. Looking to pick up some scoring, the Blues could be targeting the Philadelphia Flyers as trade partners.
Around the time of the draft there were plenty of rumors saying the Blues were looking to move into the first round, but now that the draft has come and gone are the Blues still looking to make a deal?
Tim Panaccio sure thinks so:
Flyers say they REMAIN in the mix for Halak via trade route …

So if the Blues are thinking about moving Halak who would they be looking to get in return? That question is still very much up in the air as the Blues don’t seem to have the cap space for most of the Flyers offense. We want you to tell us what you think a good return would be for the Halakness Monster. Let us know in the comments below.
Only time will tell what the Blues will choose to do, but stay tuned to Bleedin’ Blue for all of your Blues signing and trade updates.
