In case you were wondering why Vladimir Tarasenko won’t be playing for the St. Louis Blues tonight when they take on the Boston Bruins, we just figured we’d give you a heads up. It’s nothing to be worried about at all. The official report is that he will be a scratch in this contest because he was feeling under the weather.

The Blues can probably call this one even since the Bruins will be without Zdeno Chara, who is already in Sochi representing Slovakia as their flag carrier. There is not official word from the team yet, but it stands to reason that his replacement will be the recently recalled Dmitrij Jaskin.
Which isn’t something that you should be too upset about.
As we wrote after he was recalled from the AHL, he’s a budding power forward that can play as another big, strong body for Ken Hitchcock. He’s got a nice scoring touch and isn’t afraid to go to work down low in front of the net or in the corners.
This should be an interesting matchup between two powerhouses, even without these missing key players. For all intents and purposes we can imagine this as a Stanley Cup playoff game. The intensity is likely to be just as high.
