St. Louis Blues Lead Stanley Cup Odds

Following an outstanding trade deadline, the St. Louis Blues appear to be the odds-on favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Yahoo! Sports updated their odds this morning, and the Blues are more heavily favored than the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks.

Here’s a look at the whole list.

This shouldn’t be too surprising, as St. Louis was a Cup favorite before going out and acquiring Ryan Miller and Steve Ott a few days ahead of the March 5 deadline. The sample size is small, but the Blues have been able to win a few imperfect games with late comebacks recently.

Perhaps it was this proof of constitution that pushed St. Louis to the top of the list, but this has been a top-end team all season long. Alexander Steen has developed into a legitimate scoring threat, David Backes still does David Backes things and Miller gives the team something that it hasn’t had in a very long time in an elite goaltender.

Good odds don’t guarantee a Stanley Cup parade—just ask the 2013 Penguins—but the numbers look pretty good for the Blues as they head into the playoff stretch run.
