With Vladimir Tarasenko set to miss upwards of six weeks following surgery to an injured right hand, the St. Louis Blues have recalled forward Dmitrij Jaskin and he’ll be in the lineup tonight against the Winnipeg Jets. Head coach Ken Hitchcock isn’t going to ease him in with a bottom-six role.

This is an outstanding opportunity for one of the top prospects in the Blues organization. He has scored 15 goals in 42 games in the AHL this season, and has added two points in nine contests with St. Louis.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not he sticks on this line if T.J. Oshie decides to suit up. His fiancée gave birth earlier today, and he may or may not be in the lineup for the Blues. Regardless, Tarasenko’s injury is a test of St. Louis’ vaunted depth, and Jaskin will be an important part of the team for the next six weeks.
