Vladimir Tarasenko Reportedly Not Cleared to Skate Yet

The St. Louis Blues continue to find ways to win without Vladimir Tarasenko, who underwent successful surgery to repair damage to his hand last Wednesday. Due to the nature of the upper-body injury, the young Russian sniper will eventually be able to skate to keep his game legs under him, though it will take some time before he can shoot and pass.

At this stage, Tarasenko has not yet been cleared to skate following the procedure.

Head coach Ken Hitchcock believed that Tarasenko will be able to hit the ice within the near future, however.

It seems unlikely that the Blues will be able to get the top-six winger back in time for the opening round of the playoffs. He was tagged with a six-week timetable prior to the surgery, he’s already nearly two weeks through that original diagnosis.

St. Louis has received big offensive contributions from T.J. Oshie, David Backes and various other players with Tarasenko on the shelf though, and the team continues to challenge for the Presidents’ Trophy.
