Good morning Blues fans! St. Louis finally got things right on the road and though New Jersey might not be the best opponent, it was more about what went right with our own team.

The St. Louis Blues have had some well documented stinkers on the road. The loss to the New York Islanders might not have been classified as that, but it was another indicator that the Blues have mental issues when away from home.

So, with the Blues always being a crap shoot in the second of back-to-back games (aside from Jake Allen), there was no telling what we were going to get. Fortunately, the entire team showed up and put an east coast style curb stomping on the Devils.

New Jersey is an odd team. They appear much better than in the last handful of years, but still aren’t all that good. Still, they had not lost a game in regulation at home this season until the Blues knocked them off.

Despite their ups and downs, they remain clearly in the playoff picture in the East. So, the Blues had to be wary since St. Louis had their business handed to them the night before by the last place team in that conference.

As mentioned, everyone came to play. Jake Allen was not tested a ton, but he faced some quality shots and turned away all but one.

Vladimir Tarasenko was firing like a wild man and just not rewarded. The defense was stout, the special teams were good enough and, of course, you can’t not mention Robby Fabbri and Jaden Schwartz.

The two of them continue to have hot nights and are key reasons why the Blues aren’t worrying about scoring at the moment. Goals have a way of drying up, but it is the effort those two (and others) continue to pour in that will be beneficial to the team from here on out.

Now, if we can just get copies made of that game against the Devils, the Blues will be alright. Sadly, no such magical machine exists, so we have to hope the team is capable of replicating that effort themselves.

Here are your St. Louis Blues Morning Links to get your day started off right.

Unlike Robby Fabbri, Jori Lehtera has yet to show any signs of turnaround after his benching. If anything, he got worse in the couple games after. Though he was nothing special against New Jersey, Lehtera is saying being a scratch was a wake-up call and now it is just about keeping confidence. (STLToday)

Jeremy Rutherford had his weekly chat on Friday.  Some of the topics included why Brad Hunt got the call over Petteri Lindbohm, Allen over Hutton in New Jersey and if Lehtera could be shopped.  (STLToday)

The St. Louis Blues actually trail only Edmonton in the conference for total number of goals scored right now.  Despite this, there are still those calling for more offense.  It doesn’t help that the team’s analytics were better last season.  (St. Louis Gametime)

As much as we all know Wayne Gretzky was, perhaps, the most skilled player in NHL history, we all know he never had to get his hands dirty either.  Some went so far as to call him soft.  So, his defense of Connor McDavid’s claims teams are intentionally going after him, doesn’t come off in the same light for all fans.  (NHL)

We have one of our first trades of the season and boy, was it a franchise altering one.  I say that tongue in cheek as it seems like Arizona is grasping at straws in their attempt to get out of the league basement.  (ESPN)

Have a great day Blues fans!
