Pro: Binnington
The haters will say he allowed four goals and the team was lucky to outscore Vegas. Bullspit is what I say.
The goals that tied it in the third were blistering shots that very few goalies would have fared any better. Binnington made the saves when the game counted.
Despite what the final shot totals were, St. Louis was all but sitting on the lead in the third period. Binnington held them in as long as he could until the Blues allowed grade-A chances.
Binnington and the entire team were very lucky in the overtime period, but Binnington made the big saves in the shootout when he was needed and won the game.
Con: Absorbing too much
Not to be a broken record, but I don't care what the third-period totals were. Shots were just 9-6, so technically, the Blues played reasonably good defense.
However, the reality is that around 75% of the period was in their zone. St. Louis finished with 26 blocked shots and plenty came in the end just to keep Vegas at bay.
The Blues would go down, get one shot, and be done. Vegas was buzzing in the offensive zone and the Blues just didn't do enough to push back.
