  • On paper, this was a great trade for the Blues, who came out the winner with Marcel Goc, he of the significantly better possession stats and defensive responsibility. But Maxim Lapierre was a good fourth-line linemate to wingers Reaves and Ott, while Goc seemed to struggle to find chemistry at times.

Goc is excellent at keeping the puck in the offensive zone, but rarely does he score himself. His abilities didn’t manifest themselves in the postseason, however, and he played as though infected with the same malaise as did his teammates who had been on the Blues all season. He played fewer than ten minutes a game in the postseason, registering four shots and zero points. Goc was a healthy scratch twice and was held out of Game 6 against Minnesota.

To be fair, however, Lapierre only boasted nine points over 45 games with the Blues. I’d call this a slight win for St. Louis in terms of trades.

    This trade gets a B-.
