Overview

This was another awful game that should not have been and did not have to be.

Blame it on the goalie if you wish with this thinking of they have to make this big save all the time. That’s ignoring the fact that this team continually loses board battles, they are soft on opponents, they don’t move their feet enough and when the tough gets going the Blues run and hide.

The offense on this team is nowhere close to its potential and yet they have scored goals. If you expect this team to average five or more goals a night to win simply because you can’t keep them out of your own net, however, this is going to be an incredibly long season.

Nine games into the 2018-19 season, the Blues have scored four or more goals three times yet still lost. They can’t get better as the game goes along and continue to get worse.

They gave up three in the third period on this night, which means they have now given up the most third period goals in the entire NHL. That is just not good enough.

Maybe there is no answer. Firing Mike Yeo might have no affect.

Stripping guys of letters on their shoulders might make no difference. Firing a GM after he had a hell of an offseason might change nothing.

Or it all might. With this team, who the hell knows. One thing is for sure, things cannot stand pat and expect it to change. As good as this team can be, I just don’t see the switch magically flipping and it all being alright.
