The St. Louis Blues still hold all their destiny in their own hands. Despite this, because of one poor game, some in Blues Nation have already freaked the blank out.

The St. Louis Blues are still up in their series against the Winnipeg Jets as of writing this. Even those of us that were made nervous by the way they lost Game 3 need to remind ourselves of that. The Blues are still in the driver’s seat. They have just given us a little scare as of right now.

Still, sports fans amaze me sometimes. Obviously, most of it has to do with the fact that humans barely agree on anything. Even so, the short memory and temperament of some is astounding.

The Blues did get embarrassed by the Jets in Game 3. A 6-3 loss while not playing well in all aspects is just not acceptable.

Jordan Binnington was also not at his best in terms of his body language. There was just something slightly off about his demeanor, compared to normal.

The reality is that only one goal could be considered a bad goal. The one that snuck in from below the end line went in off his mask. There is not much anyone can do about that.

Despite all that, there is honestly a contingent of the fanbase that are wanting Binnington to be removed. After everything this team has been through and all the crap fans have tossed the way of Jake Allen, now we want to remove Binnington after one bad game by the team in front of him?

Someone, please, explain this to me. Why is it that fans have so much pent up hatred and frustration with the position of goaltender? Why is it so easy to put all the blame on that one position when there are five to 10 things that happened before each goal, in any game, that could have prevented it?

All those fans focus on is the fact any puck went in the net. Let’s apparently forget that the game could have and maybe should have been out of reach for the Blues in the first period.

St. Louis got outshot 10-1 in the first 10 minutes of Game 3. Even coach Craig Berube was quoted saying it could have been 4-0 after the first period if not for Binnington.

He was not the only reason and maybe not even the main reason, but Binnington was definitely a part of this team turning it around during the season. His calm aura in net seemed to rub off on his teammates and they could focus on the rest of the ice, feeling the net was taken care of.

So, why in the world would the Blues switch after one game? I ask this honestly, because I do not get the knee jerk reaction of the masses.

I ask this as a Jake Allen fan too. Nothing would please me more than to have the Snake pop back into the net, win the series and lead the Blues to a Stanley Cup. I am one of, if not the only one that thinks he could.

Despite my own feelings and prejudices, this is Binnington’s show now. Without reason, such as injury or actually playing poorly in a game, there is no need to yank him out of the pipes right now.

I’m the biggest Allen fan there is, but he has not played a home game since January 8. I love Blues fans, but I would not throw the Snake into the lion’s den unless I absolutely had to.

It is time we all just take a deep breath. Binnington will be fine just as long as the team in front of him gets their act together.
