Breaking News: Eric Brewer In The Lineup Tonight

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Blues captain Eric Brewer has been out since December of last year, but it has just been reported he will be in the lineup tonight when the Blues take on the Phoenix Coyotes at Scottrade Center.
Brewer dealt with a herniated disc in his back, and went through two back surgeries and a long rehabilitation process to get back up to speed. It has been a long time since he has played a game, but the Blues say he has been practicing for some time now, and is ready to go.
I am definitely surprised he is back this early. For the past [...]

Stars Defeat Blues In Penalty-Crazy Game

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: None Yet

I attended a wild and crazy game Saturday night when the St. Louis Blues took on the Dallas Stars, that’s for sure. Dallas won the game 4-1, but that doesn’t even begin to tell the whole story. This game was physical and had a lot of fights, hits, scrums – and cheap shots too. I’m not usually one to complain about the refs a lot, but they were absolutely terrible and make a lot of blatant mistakes. So without further adieu, I have lots to discuss!

The game got off to an exciting start when D.J. King TKO’d Krys Barch in [...]

King Out 8-10 Weeks With Broken Hand

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: None Yet

More bad news for D.J. King: he’s out again. In his first game back in the NHL in over a year, King only logged 4 seconds of ice time. On his first shift of the game, he dropped the gloves right off the faceoff and fought Krys Barch. King beat him easily, but broke his hand in the process, and is now out for several weeks. So just like last year, King got injured in his very first game, and ironically it was against Dallas again. Here’s the fight:
Krys Barch vs. D.J. King – 10/24/09
As you can see, D.J. King absolutely pummeled [...]

D.J. King Returns To Lineup Tonight vs. Dallas

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: None Yet

Blues enforcer D.J. King played one game last year before dislocating his shoulder and missing the rest of the season. That game was against the Dallas Stars on October 16th, 2008 … And now, on October 24th, 2009, D.J. King will return to the lineup to play his first NHL game in a year against that same team: Dallas.
King came back and was healthy during training camp this Summer, but then dislocated his thumb which put him out for a couple weeks. After that he was sent to Peoria for a two-week conditioning stint, and in 5 games with the Rivermen, King [...]

T.J. Oshie Undergoes Emergency Appendectomy Surgery

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Following last night’s 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild, T.J. Oshie had to be sent to the hospital after the game to undergo appendectomy surgery according to Jeremy Rutherford.
Not much news is available at this time, but let’s hope that Oshie is okay. He really bounced back and played a good game against the Wild last night. He was all over the ice and is an incredibly exciting player to watch which makes him a huge fan favorite in St. Louis, so I hope he won’t be out for too long. This news is definitely surprising.
He is only expected to miss 2 [...]

Jackman, Steen Placed on IR

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Blues have witnessed injuries to two players in the past week and in result they have both been placed on Injured Reserve.
Defenseman Barret Jackman has an injured ankle, and still seems to be a week away from returning, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. But it has gotten better so Jackman isn’t too far away from being back on the ice.
Alex Steen on the other hand isn’t as fortunate though. Steen broke his wrist after taking a hit last Thursday in the game against Phoenix. He has been placed on the IR and will be out for 6-8 weeks.
It’s [...]

Penguins Crush Blues In Lopsided Affair

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the Blues’ worst game of the season, they were embarrassed on national TV by the defending Stanley Cup Champion, Pittsburgh Penguins. The Pens are very hot as they stand at 7-1 through eight games, but that’s no excuse for the Blues not to play hard. To be frank, the Blues looked competely awful and were flat-out dominated. Pittsburgh outshot St. Louis 43-23 and won the game 5-1, and for the Blues fans who were watching on TV … It wasn’t pretty. It was actually pretty painful to watch.
This is exactly what I talked about a few days ago. The [...]

Blues Lose Three Straight, Then Dominate Anaheim

AUTHOR: Wes Krebeck | IN: Blues | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It’s been a weird twist of events for the St. Louis Blues this year, and we’re only six games into the season.
After sweeping the Detroit Red Wings in Sweden, the Blues came home and lost their first two games at the Scottrade Center, and then dropped the next game to Phoenix to expand their losing streak to three. But they rebounded in Anaheim against a tough Ducks team by shutting them out and winning 5-0. It has definitely been a surprising start for the Blues this season. At the start of the season, I predicted a 1-1 split with the [...]
