The NHL released its schedule for the 2015-2016 season and the St. Louis Blues are on the top of the to-watch list with some interesting matchups early on.
Though a lot is still uncertain regarding who Hitchcock will ice in October, with the Draft looming large in our future and names being batted around as trade fodder left and right, St. Louis fans will still turn out in droves to support their Blues. But as to which ones to plan your day or week around, we’ll help you out.
Which St. Louis Blues matchups are you looking forward to? We’ve picked out a number of can’t-miss games for you to set the DVR for come October.
- Everyone and their mother is talking about the Blues first game Thursday, Oct. 8. They start the season out against Edmonton. This will be the first glimpse the world gets at NHL player, Connor McDavid, and we fully expect a show. Tuxedos, rose petals on the ice, the works. We can only hope McDavid lives up to the hype. (And that the Blues win, of course.)
- The Blues and the Minnesota Wild will meet up for the first time Saturday, Oct. 10 since Minnesota eliminated them from the playoffs race in April. Expect the Blues to trounce the Wild all over the ice and call it a night.
- Wednesday, Nov. 4 will see the Blues face off against division rivals and reigning Cup champions, the Chicago Blackhawks. In case you weren’t aware (and you definitely are) there’s a lot of bad blood between rival groups of fans and the teams don’t seem terribly fond of each other either. This will be a hard-fought bloodbath. And speedy, too, if Hitchcock is to be believed.
- When the Blues face off against the New York Islanders (Brooklyners?) Friday, Dec. 4, it will be in at their new home in Brooklyn, and a sad reminder to NHL fans that Nassau Coliseum has been left behind in the name of progress.
