With the recent St. Louis Blues victory over the Minnesota Wild, there are some good things to note from the Blue Note.

Good afternoon, St. Louis Blues fans! I want to personally apologize for the lack of coverage this site has seen in the last month. As a Blues fan and FanSided member, it is not good to see another site down in the dumps like this one, especially one with a fan base like St. Louis has.

If you recognize the name, attached to the article you probably have read my stuff at Redbird Rants. If so, thank you very much for being one of my loyal readers. I have decided to go ahead and add on to my writing repertoire by coming on as Co-Editor here. You will be introduced to our other Co-Editor when he comes on board.

You have my guarantee that we will be posting some hard hitting, exciting, and interactive commentary over the course of the rest of this season and into the playoffs. This site will be better for it and I hope you enjoy what we bring to the table.

With that said, let’s dig into that sweet victory over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday Night. Unfortunately, I was unable to watch the game, as that was “family night” between my wife and I. However, I did check up on the box score and saw the highlights, so let’s take a look at what impressed me that night.

Goals, Goals, and more Goals

Holy cow was this an amazing display of offense for a team that badly needed it. To see four different guys put pucks in the net, was an impressive display. Most importantly it was nice to see three out of four put in on the power play, something that was sorely needed.

Along the same lines it was really nice to see Vladimir Tarasenko and Paul Stastny pick up goals. While it may not the flashiest of nights for the pair, the two recorded some badly needed points, and Stastny’s pass to Tarasenko on his goal was a thing of beauty and exactly why he was given the money he was given.

Brain Elliot continues to impress

Wow, I cannot believe we are seeing Brian Elliot come in and dominate during a time in need yet again. Jake Allen continues to rehab from his lower body injury that he suffered a few weeks back, and Brian Elliot is putting this team on his back during this stretch.

At the beginning of the season, I thought this was going to be the season we saw Elliot kind of fade into the background, but fortunately for the Blues, this is not the case. His remarkable play has continued this season, and he is making his case as one of the best goaltenders in Blues’ history.

Alex Pietrangelo down and out

Unfortunately, in one of the biggest wins of the year, there was a loss. Alex Pietrangelo was taken out by Charlie Coyle, where he hurt his knee. Pietrangelo is said to be missing at least three weeks. This is not good, as despite his lack of points, Pietrangelo is an anchor to the Blues D.

With Pietrangelo going down, it is likely that Petteri Lindbohm will get the call up and he will fight for the role last defensemen with Robert Bortuzzo. With Lindbohm in the lineup the Blues will be working with four left-handed defensemen and just two right-handed defensemen, which could be a problem moving forward.

Next: St. Louis Blues' remaining schedule

I am not 100% sure, but I would assume that Kevin Shattenkirk would stay with Carl Gunnarson and Colton Parayko will move up to pair with Jay Bouwmeester, so it will be interesting to see how the rookie performs on the top pair.
