With the St. Louis Blues getting younger and faster, the prospect camp is taking on even more importance.

The St. Louis Blues are going to be relying on a lot of their younger guys. With that in mind, the prospect camp might have the next surprise coming through the pipeline. Nobody really expected guys like Colton Parayko or Robby Fabbri to have the impact they did, so the 2016 Prospect Camp might just have the next NHL player come out of it.

Today, I’ll be giving some insight as to what’s going on and who looks good going up against their future teammates. Refresh the page often for the updates.

The goaltenders are out first for some drills. Its Villa Husso, Evan Fitzpatrick,Ryan Ruck and Drew Volger.

Just some skating drills off the bat.

Interesting to see the tendys struggle just a little bit with the lateral movement drills. They were using some unnatural movements though.

Goalies still struggling with the memorization part of these drills. Poor Fitzpatrick almost lost an edge and spilled over the goal.

Dunn, Tschantz and MacEachern are out doing a weave drill to warm up at the other end of the ice.

Moved on to some shooting drills. Theyre usong some white pucks on the second drill. I suppose to give the eyes a better workout.

Much better from the goalies in these rounds of drills. Its always easier to deal with actual game like movement and shots than just drills.

More from Prospects

Someone sign MacEachern up right now. He just scored an empty metter from the blueline.

Final goalie drills before the team joins include some in tight work and wraparounds. Husso looked the best. Fitzpatrick was shaky with some unbalanced movement and the other two fell in the middle.

One of the teams players are out for warmups. There are three extra goalies now, most likely local junior players or recently retired guys. Nobody has numbers on for those three.

It is team Tkachuk on the ice, just for clarification.

Musil has acored some nifty goals in the early drills. One on the ice, just inside the post.

Found out some of my earlier posts did not get sent.  Wonderful technology.

Husso stopped several breakaways snd looked smooth and confident in his aggressive nature.

I don’t remember the order of everything, but I know Thompson got a nice wrister in the upper 90 glove side.  Dunda, Armstrong and Poganski also got in on the scoring to make it 6-3

7-3 now as Blais roofed one.

Final Thoughts

Husso looked great. I’m pretty sure, he was not scored upon. If he keeps this up, it’ll be hard to keep him off the Wolves. However with two already in Chicago, he might be ECHL bound. Time will tell.

All of the goaltenders looked shaky at points in the drills, but looked good in game action, which is what you want.

I was impressed with Nolan Stevens. It’s only day 1, but he was speedy, had good hands amd had great effort. Thompson also impressed.

Thompson needs to imrove his footwork, but he’ll be a pro in a couple years. Whether thats AHL or NHL will be up to him.

I was a tiny bit dosappointed with Kyrou and Bleackley. Kyrou was said ot be one of the fastest in the draft and he never put himself in a spot to show it. Bleackley played like a guy who knows he’s going to be in the AHL whether he impresses or not.

It’s day 1 prospect camp. None of the positives or negatives are going to decide anyone’s future based on one day of evaluation. It’s still fun to see them amd wonder what the future holds.
