The St. Louis Blues will take their time to unveil it, keeping fans waiting. However, the team will have a third jersey this coming season.

The St. Louis Blues are becoming masters of building things up a little too early. They started with their roster additions about as quickly as you could do them in early July, with the season still months away.

Now, they have told fans something we knew was likely, but were not 100% certain of yet. The team will indeed have a third jersey for the 2018-19 season.

As mentioned, we thought they might since many teams are already unveiling their third sweater this summer. The main issue was most of the teams that have released their third jersey already made it related to some sort of anniversary. For example, the Anaheim Ducks third sweater is related to their 25th anniversary.

The Blues already had their 50th anniversary two seasons ago. The league did not allow third jerseys in 2017-18 when the Blues could have stretched the idea that it was still their 50th year.

Now, two years removed, they are still going to make the cash grab of the third jersey. The main question left is what it is going to look like.

We will not find that out until August 26. The team is going to have an Ice Breaker Event where they will officially unveil Ryan O’Reilly and Chad Johnson to the public. The Blues will also show off their newest sweater to the fans as well.

The issue I have is on their website, they show a closeup of a grayish jersey. I sincerely hope that is just a stock photo and not what the Blues are actually going to use.

I know it’s the in thing to use colors other than your own, such as black or gray. That is simply not the Blues though.

I do not care if it has the greatest logo of all time. The only time the Blues should wear anything gray is for a practice jersey. Even then, it just does not seem quite right.

I have full confidence they picked something good out. Many fans would like something such as the Winter Classic jersey or even the one with the Arch in the logo.

More than likely, the team will have a completely new one or something similar but tweaked. That way, fans are forced to buy the new style instead of being able to say they will wear their old one.

We will find out in late August. The Blues sure do like to build the suspense.
