The St. Louis Blues did not ease all the fears of fans by defeating the Chicago Blackhawks. However, they put those fears to the side for awhile with a highly entertaining win.
The St. Louis Blues struggles have hung over all our heads like a black cloud that would make even Charlie Brown run for the hills. While it was not a perfect performance, there were finally some rays of sunshine as the Blues defeated the Chicago Blackhawks by a final score of 7-3.
Unfortunately, there were the same negatives that we have been seeing all year. The Blues could not hold onto leads in the first period.
St. Louis also had turnovers lead to goals as they have all year. Additionally, Jake Allen did not have his greatest game with his first period goals against not being softies but savable if he was on his game.
That said, the Blues found a way to win. They found a way to step on the throat of their opponent, made all the more important by it being a division opponent.
The offense is really starting to click and several lines are really coming together. Offensively, this team is looking great.
Defensively, it is a mixed bag. The Blues still have plenty of things they have to clean up. As this season looked to be on the brink before the first 10 games were played, however, it was important to get a win by hook or by crook.
