December was a little more kind to the St. Louis Blues than the previous two months. However, there were still issues that the team has not figured out.

At one point in December, the St. Louis Blues were only seven points out of a playoff spot with several games in hand. Instead, they finish December tied with the Ottowa Senators for the fewest points in the NHL.

The team is at the seller of the Western Conference and are well on they’re way to being in contention for the top overall draft pick. Although the Blues have played the fewest games in the NHL, there is no indication that the team is anywhere close to turning their season around.

At one point in the season, I was ready to jump on the Blues bandwagon of mediocrity. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel after the Blues had won five of seven games, but I have been teased and misled by the Blues before.

There were some great performers in December for the Blues. Although the record does not show it, some Blues players took monumental leaps in their development and have some positives to build on heading into the new year.

December saw injuries to many of the Blues top players, which allowed opportunities to players like Colton Parayko to play in an expanded role.
