Torey Krug

Torey Krug is one of the more up, and coming defensemen in the NHL and a trade for him would reflect that. Krug is 27 years old, and with the current playoff position of the Bruins, it would take an arm and a leg to acquire him.

This season, Krug has 24 points in 29 games including four goals and 20 assists. Krug gained votes for the Norris Trophy as the leagues best defensemen two years ago after the 2016-2017 season had concluded.

More from Rumors

Trading for a Norris Trophy candidate would require another Norris candidate in return. Enter Alex Pietrangelo.

If the Blues were open to trading their captain, this might be the best player in the league to replace his spot on the roster.

Krug is signed through the 2019-2020 season at $5.52 million a year. If Pietrangelo were part of the trade to Boston, the Blues would have no problem taking on the salary of Krug.

The Blues captain is currently earning $6.5 million a year and is an unrestricted free agent at the same time as Krug.

With the Bruins being a prominent contender in the Eastern Conference, it would take a significant haul to acquire a guy with the talent of Krug. Unlike Debrusk, the Bruins would not necessarily have someone to take Krug’s spot in the lineup, that is unless the Blues sent over Pietrangelo or Colton Parayko.
