St. Louis Blues forward Ryan O’Reilly is the only St. Louis Blues representative at the All-Star Game. However, his beard alone warrants his appearance in San Jose.

Ryan O’Reilly performance in his first season on the St. Louis Blues roster warrants his participation in the All-Star Game as the only Blues representative. However, what Blues fans have come to know and love about O’Reilly in addition to his 200-foot style of hockey, is his all-star caliber beard.

Comparing this masterpiece to other great beards of the National Hockey League is a tough task. However, it being the all-star break and not the playoffs does help narrow down the competition. We have seen some great playoff beards over the years, but some players may be more inclined to shave during the season.

O’Reilly’s beard blows the rest of his peers’ beards in the Central Division out of the water. He far and away has the best beard in the division, and it’s not really close.

Blake Wheeler of the Winnipeg Jets has a good beard, and maybe we talk about his beard being one of the best in the playoffs. However, at this point in the season, his facial hair just simply does not stack up with number 90’s.

Detriot Red Wings goaltender may have the best beard of all the goalies at All-Star Weekend, but still not has groomed as O’Reilly’s and it does not deserve to be ranked above O’Reilly’s. Capitals goalie

Not only does Nikita Kucherov have one of the best shots in the NHL, but he also has one of the best beards. We have also seen that Kucherov’s teammate Steven Stamkos has the ability come playoff time to grow a quality beard as well. However, at this point in the season, they still do not compare to the Blues forward.

New Jersey Devils forward Kyle Palmieri has a very similar beard type to O’Reilly’s. However, Palmeri does not have as much depth to his beard and thus cannot be placed higher than O’Reilly’s.

Kris Letang and Sydney Crosby combined have one of the best beard duos in San Jose this weekend, but if you compare their beard’s separately to O’Reilly’s, they do not stack up.

One guy who does have O’Reilly’s beard beat from the Eastern Conference is Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby. He by far has one of the best beards not only out of the All-Stars participating this weekend but in the entire NHL.

The San Jose Sharks have some of the best beards the game has to offer. It’s a shame that Joe Thornton did not crack the roster, because his fantastic beard would take home the prize.

However, his teammate Brent Burns would be a very close second, maybe even the best beard in the NHL. Burns’ beard is second to none in the NHL and is a candidate to take home the honor of best beard.

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty has a beard similar to O’Reilly’s, but the Blues forward keeps his beard more trim and neat than Doughty does.

Although O’Reilly has a great beard, he still finishes behind Burns for best beard at the All-Star game. O’Reilly does finish second, however, with Kings defensemen Doughty coming in third.
