The St. Louis Blues are ready for their second game of the series against the Dallas Stars. Time to prep for it all as fans.

The St. Louis Blues take on the Dallas Stars for Game 2 of their second round series today. The game is scheduled for 2 pm, but that means the puck will drop closer to 2:15, of course.

St. Louis won the first game, but how well it went depends on who you talk to. Some pundits believe the game was only won because Ben Bishop had an off game. Other people say St. Louis won despite playing a poor game.

Each argument favors one team or another. If you believe it falls down to the goalie, then Dallas should have a good rebound. If you think St. Louis has more to give, which they do, the Blues should be fine.

None of that really means anything. Momentum is fleeting in the NHL. Goaltenders rarely have two bad games in a row, even if you think Bishop had one, which I do not.

Scoring first today is going to be key again. If the Blues can strike first, they will be off on the right foot.

Switch For The Post Game

For those that were unaware, the Blues are having their own post game show on Fox Sports Midwest. There were plenty of people that were upset with NBC’s coverage after the game.

Firstly, Jeremy Roenick seemed to focus too much on the idea that the Blues were lucky to win, which was not the case. The first goal might have been soft, but Bishop was just beaten on the others.

If you like a slightly homerish view, you’ve got the normal crew plus the announcing crew over on FSMW. The only issue will be time.

If the schedule is clear, that post game show will come on almost immediately following the finish of the game. If the St. Louis Cardinals are playing when a hockey game finishes, the FSMW post game show will still be broadcast, but just later in the evening.

I forgot this show was on and suffered through the NBC one. They are all professionals and good at their job, but it just never feels like there is a positive light on the Blues.

Craig Berube A Finalist

For those that missed it, Craig Berube has been named one of the final three for the Jack Adams award.

Nobody deserves this award more than Berube, as I said in the linked article. You can argue that Barry Trotz deserves it as much, but I do not think he has a better case.

It will ultimately come down to the voters own opinion. Trotz led the Islanders from playoff outsider to divisional champion while Berube took the Blues from last in the league to division title contender in half a season.

Expect More Of The Same

As of writing this piece, there was no confirmation one way or the other regarding the Blues lineup. However, unless someone got injured and the Blues are not providing that information, I would not expect any changed.

St. Louis has won two and a half games after making the changes they did. No reason to “fix” something if it is not broken.

As far as changes, there might need to be more of a focus on who guards the Jaime Benn line. The Blues had their second line against them quite a bit and those guys did a good job. When St. Louis had their top line out against that line, there seemed to be a bit too much space available for the Stars.

That is not something that has to be an intense focus to the point it becomes the only focus. It does need to be something they keep an eye on, however.
