St. Louis Blues: Jonathan Toews Comments Spark Fire Under Fans

The St. Louis Blues finally have a step on the Chicago Blackhawks in terms of championships, not surprisingly, Hawks captain Jonathan Toews is not impressed.
The only thing you can do as a St. Louis Blues fan when you hear that Jonathan Toews is trashing the Blues in July, is act completely irrational and crazy, and that is precisely what we are going to do.
Toews made an appearance on ESPN Chicago’s Waddle and Silvy show on Thursday, July 25 and had some things to say in response to the Blues winning their first-ever Stanley Cup.
Toews said, “There was no part of me that was happy, let’s make that clear,” Toews said. “At the end of the day, I think they made some big moves in the offseason last year. To me, them tanking at the start of the year was a huge underachievement. I’m not ready to give them as much credit as everyone else was this year”.

Now, as a die-hard Blues fan, let’s get ready to blow this quote completely out of proportion.
No one expects anyone on the Blackhawks to be happy about their arch-rivals winning the Stanley Cup. I am sure there were no Cardinal fans in America glad to see the Cubs in the World Series a few years back.
I have five words for Toews, and I will quote St. Louis Cardinals reliever John Brebbia. “Cry me a river, loser.”
Sound familiar? This was Brebbia’s response to Cubs third basemen Kris Bryant calling the city of St. Louis boring. Well, I think St. Louis showed the world what we are capable of during the Blues’ Cup run.
Toews has three Cups, and his comments about the Blues are sure to give Blues fans a reason to boo him every time he touches the puck next season. Not that St. Louisans need any more reasons to show their displeasure.
From a pure hockey perspective, Toews had a (clears throat) very good year. He tied his career-high in goals with 35, and at age 31, it is hard to say that you saw that coming, despite his track record.
The Blues do not play Chicago until December 2 when they travel to the United Center for the first time. Two weeks later, Toews and the Blackhawks will make their first trip to St. Louis on December 14.

The comments made in July by Toews will give Blues fans plenty of time to stew in their hatred until he arrives in St. Louis in mid-December. As for the contents of his message, let’s just let the play on the ice do the talking.
