Dmitrij Jaskin was one of the best selections the Blues made in the draft, and Jaskin was still not the player the Blues envisioned him being.

Jaskin spent the first six seasons of his NHL career in St. Louis with the Blues, and during his time in St. Louis, fans always wanted more from the forward than what he produced on the ice.

Often times, fans wanted Jaskin to be a top-6 producer on the scoresheet, unfortunately, the result was not what anyone wanted.

Jaskin’s best year came in the 2014-15 season when he played in only 54 games, but he netted 13 goals and five assists. This was the first and only season that Jaskin has been able to net more than 10 goals in a season.

The 26-year-old was placed on waivers in 2018 and was picked up by the Washington Capitals. Last season in Washington, Jaskin appeared in 37 games and recorded just two goals and six assists.

He is currently a free agent, and with lackluster performances over his seven-year career, it seems like he is only worth a flyer on a one year deal. However, it’s still incredibly likely that he ends up in Russia next season.
