Former St. Louis Blues forward Ryan Reaves was in the news today after he renewed a couple’s wedding vows, and it got us thinking which Blues player could do the same.

Speaking as a current single man, this entire conversation of which St. Louis Blues players would be fit to officiate a wedding will be coming from someone who has never been married, but that’s okay.

Reaves seems like the perfect hockey player to renew your vows after years of marriage, especially if you are a Golden Knights fan. The videos and pictures of the ceremony were incredible, and a Blues fan would be lucky if they could get a current St. Louis Blue to do the same.

After winning the Stanley Cup last year, there probably are not that many people who openly despise any players enough to keep them away from such a momentous occasion.

However, there still may be players they wish got paid a little less or didn’t play as much, but to have a professional athlete marry you would be the chance of a lifetime.

5. Robert Thomas

He may not be able to drink at the reception because he is still just 20 years old. However, how can you not like the toothless smile of the young forward in your wedding photos?

For a true hockey fan, having Thomas show up front and center at your wedding would be a dream come true. The toothless tough guy portrayal is a textbook definition of what a hockey player should look like, and Thomas personifies that.

4. Vladimir Tarasenko

Tarasenko would be at the top of a lot of other people’s list for current St. Louis Blues players they would want to officiate their wedding, and for most of the same reasons I put Thomas on this list, Tarasenko (and possibly his family) would look great in the pictures.

The only major downside I see about Tarasenko officiating your wedding would be his accent. We can understand Tarasenko when he gives post-game interviews with Darren Pang, but to have him on the stage to say nice things about you and your significant other, it would be nice to be able to understand him the entire time.

One big thing going for Tarasenko’s nomination would be the possibility of him bringing his newborn infant, who just looks like the cutest thing in the world.

3. Playoff Ryan O’Reilly

What’s the difference between playoff O’Reilly and regular season O’Reilly? The beard. O’Reilly has quickly become one of the fan’s most beloved players after spending just one season in St. Louis.

He also happens to have one of the best sets of facial hair in the entire league. It’s a tradition as old as time, players growing playoff beards, and no one does it quite like O’Reilly.

Even if you prefer your officiant to be well-groomed and kept, I’m sure any hockey fan or Blues fan wouldn’t mind if O’Reilly’s beard was long and messy.

2. Alex Pietrangelo

Imagine having the first St. Louis Blues player to lift the Stanley Cup officiate your wedding. As a Blues fan, there might not be anyone else in the entire world I would want more than for Pietrangelo to be there to marry me.

The Blues’ captain also brings the potential of bringing his family to the ceremony, including the possibility of another great photo of his triplets with the Stanley Cup.

Unlike O’Reilly, Pietrangelo might be better off shaving his playoff beard before the wedding begins. Even though he was able to grow a pretty respectable beard, it was not nearly as good as O’Reilly’s.

1. Colton Parayko

Paryako may be the obvious answer to the question we posed at the beginning of the article. I have it on pretty good authority that most people would love to have Colt 55 attend their wedding.

This move would be a high-risk, high-reward venture, especially for the groom. There is a very good chance that your bride takes one look at him and runs away with him forever, but hey, that probably won’t happen… right?

Either way, if Parayko gets the opportunity to marry you, you’re doing something right. Also, as an added bonus, if you get married outside, Parayko could use his 6’6 frame to offer some shade for you and your fiance.

Some people may be wondering where Jordan Binnington fits into this picture. Well, I would hire him as a coach, helping the bride and groom not be nervous. It would also be nice for him to stand at the exit as everyone leaves and to say “cool” as the bride and groom leave.
