St. Louis Blues: Jordan Kyrou Belongs In The NHL
The St. Louis Blues may not have landed Taylor Hall in their pursuit for more offense, but they might have found what they are looking for in Jordan Kyrou. As I said in an article, three short months ago, Kyrou is someone who should be expected to make some waves this season.
Jordan Kyrou has been decent since being recalled to the St. Louis Blues. He has recorded one goal in four games and has averaged more than 11 minutes in three of the games. While that may not be lighting the world on fire, his play has been relatively solid thus far.
In 16 games with the Chicago Wolves, he’s put up 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists) with a plus/minus of plus-5 and a shooting percentage of 16.7%. Last season he registered 43 points in 47 games and his career in the OHL is even more impressive with 290 points in 250 games played.
If you ask me, Kyrou has proved himself in the minors and is ready for a full-time gig as a big leaguer. With that being said, I am not sure if he belongs on the first line with Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz. He has not been able to perform much on this line the last couple of games and did not score against the Avalanche until he was moved to the fourth line later on in the third period.

Anyone who has watched the Toronto native play knows he has plenty of natural ability and his only issue is finding the right NHL tune. I believe he will find that tune on the third line centered by Robert Thomas.
This would probably require reassembling the “Sasky” line moving Bozak back to the first. Unfortunately, Bozak has found quite a bit of recent success on the third line posting two goals against Chicago on the 14th and an assist against the Avs.
Dare I suggest Alexander Steen on the first line?
Regardless, Kyrou will find his stride in the league THIS season if he can log third line minutes on a line with someone who has passing abilities like Thomas. At that point, the Blues will have three lines that are primed to explode offensively at any given moment.
We all saw that wrap around goal and he’s scoring goals on nearly 17 percent of his shots in the AHL. He is clearly a goal scorer. With Thomas’ passing ability and their similarities in age, I believe that this could be a start to a fantastic partnership for years to come.
Three months ago, I noted that Kyrou would have to battle guys like Sammy Blais, Zach Sanford, Mackenzie MacEachern, and Robby Fabbri for playing time. With Blais injured, Sanford and MacEachern earning time already and Fabbri on the Red Wings, now is Kyrou’s chance to prove that he belongs in St. Louis.
