If you thought the St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup video was all there was to be seen, think again. The team/league will show more in the coming weeks.

When the St. Louis Blues won the Stanley Cup, most of us spent a small fortune on whatever mementos and souvenirs we could. Basically, slap the Blues logo and the Stanley Cup champions on an item and it was going to make money.

It is probably safe to say that the vast majority of Blues fans ended up buying the Stanley Cup DVD or BluRay as well. Whether you were happy with it is another story.

Personally, I liked it. I felt it captured the spirit of the moment and served as enough of a reminder of that momentous occasion to justify the money.

However, it cannot be denied that it lacked. Some were hoping that, at least, the BluRay version might have the entire Game 7. Others were hoping for more behind the scenes footage or interviews, both of which were on the light side.

The video was somewhat short, or at least felt short. The truth is, growing up watching Chicago Bulls championship videos, the length was about par for the course.

Being Blues fans, we just wanted more. We wanted to see every story and every personal moment because we had all waited so very long to see it, to feel it, to live it.

Like Star Wars sequels/prequels, whether we liked it or disliked it, we were always bound to be a little disappointed. Perhaps the problem was it was a league produced video, so it felt a little cold and sterile.

Regardless, we all wanted a little more. Well, sometimes you actually do get what you wish for.

The Blues are releasing a two-part series, over the next two Sundays, featuring never before seen footage. What is more, this is all stuff we probably did not even know we wanted to see.

The first episode, releasing on March 29 on YouTube, will show what happened in the 24 hours after the Cup was won. We have seen the celebration and the champagne bottles being popped, but what about all that stuff after that, such as the plane ride home and the realization of what has been accomplished once the initial adrenaline wears off? We will see that now.

"The first episode – titled “The First 24” – will provide exclusive, never-before-seen footage after the national TV broadcasts wrapped up their coverage of the on-ice celebrations at TD Garden in Boston. Our cameras take you inside the team’s locker room, on the bus to the airport, the team’s flight home and to OB Clark’s and the Anheuser-Busch brewery as the team’s celebrations continued into the next day. – Chris Pinkert, stlouisblues.com"

The second episode, which will also be shown on YouTube, will premier on April 5. Wrestlemania is going to be in front of no audience, which is going to be awkward, so why not watch this instead? Or just watch because it’s the Blues.

This episode is going to provide an “insider’s perspective” on the team’s insane march down Market Street for the championship parade. Nobody had ever really seen players for any team get out of their transportation and go mingle with the people.

The Blues connection with the fans was so magnetic, it only made sense for them to share the moment with all. Now, we can relive that moment and maybe, just perhaps, get a glimpse of ourselves among the crowd.

There will be some that are disappointed this is not being shown on broadcast television, but this is the way of things these days. One need not view it directly at its premier, though.

According to the team press release, each video will stay on the Blues YouTube channel after the premiere. The videos will also be available to watch on the Blues website or through the team app.

Regardless of where it is being shown, given the current circumstances, we should all welcome new footage to see. As much as we all love this team, you can only survive on past games and video game simulations for so long.

What is also good is that this is being shown for free. Nobody would be surprised if any team double-dipped on championship footage, but the Blues have almost always done right by the community.

We don’t know the specs on these episodes as yet, so they could be anywhere from five minutes to who knows how long. It will be a welcome distraction though and a chance to relive fond memories at a time when we are realizing we might not be able to make new ones for this season.
