St. Louis Blues Blues winger Josh Leivo, a free agent signing this summer, scored a pair of goals and notched an assist as St. Louis shut out Dallas 4-0 Monday night in Big D. It was the 2nd preseason game for the Blues this year after a 5-4 victory in Arizona vs the Coyotes last Saturday.

In that game, center Jake Neighbours scored his first 2 goals of the season in the early 1st and second periods (1:44 and 2:17, respectively). The latter came on the power play, to help St. Louis come out of the desert with the win.

Center Logan Brown opened the scoring for the Blues in Dallas at the 13:13 mark of the first period. It was his 3rd goal of the preseason after a 2-goal performance in the preseason opener in Arizona.

Brown also notched 1 assist, like Leivo, during Monday’s shutout victory. Leivo’s first goal of the night would come towards the end of the period at 19:04, for his first goal of the 2022-23 preseason.

The 2nd period only featured one goal and it was Leivo’s 2nd of the night, a little bit past halfway of that period, at the 11:54 mark. It would be a similar instance in the 3rd period, albeit with a different goalscorer in Will Bitten, who notched his own first goal of the preseason.

St. Louis moves to 2-0 on the free play schedule with a clash against their biggest rivals, the Chicago Blackhawks in the Windy City occurring Tuesday night. It’s the preseason opener for the Hawks, and they play the following day with a puddle jump to Detroit at 7:30 the following evening.

St. Louis on the other hand gets a day off before heading back home to the Lou to face the Columbus Blue Jackets. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 pm.

A side note- Leivo cooked Brown a pretty good dinner the night of the game, which may or may not have led to the former’s stellar performance that night. For the record, it was some good old-fashioned steak and potatoes- a dinner of winners, as it turned out to be!
