The St. Louis Blues are back for the first time in 2023-24 after a solid preseason, and already they are against a division rival and a Stanley Cup contender in the Dallas Stars.

St. Louis will come into the game fully healthy to start the season. Torey Krug had sustained a lower-body injury to begin training camp, but he looks to be ready to go for opening night in Dallas.

With a reloaded bottom 6, the Blues will look to make their absence from the playoffs just a one-year stint. They will enter the season with the same defensive core, and general manager Doug Armstrong and head coach Craig Berube are giving Joel Hofer a chance to backup Jordan Binnington in goal.

With a clean slate to begin the season, there is reason for optimism for Blues fans. While a Stanley Cup run might be too out of the question, a solid defense and a deep forward group for the Blues is reason to be optimistic to begin the season.

A quick two-game stretch against playoff teams from last season awaits the Blues to begin the year, it’s important that St. Louis gets off to a good start to avoid a lengthy losing streak similar to the one that met the team at the beginning of last season.
