3 St. Louis Blues players the 4 Nations Face-Off robbed of a potential All-Star berth

The St. Louis Blues probably never would’ve had three All-Stars to begin with if the 4 Nations Face-Off wasn’t being played, but that’s beside the point.

The 2024-25 season is one of those more exciting campaigns since, in lieu of an All-Star Game, we get the 4 Nations Face-Off. And yes, you’ll see the St. Louis Blues represented when the event kicks off in mid-February.

But, since there will be no 2025 All-Star Game, let’s have some fun and speculate which Blues players would’ve ended up in serious contention to rep their team if the festivities did take place. Below, you’ll find three possible reps for your Blues and what would have made them good fits if an All-Star Game had taken place.

Jordan Kyrou

While he’s not anywhere near the league’s most consistent players, Jordan Kyrou is the best of the bunch in the Lou. At least among skaters. He’s appeared in all 51 games and so far has 42 points and 21 goals. Kyrou is also a top-six player and has been for the entire season, and his 14.3 shooting percentage has been among the best on the Blues.

He might be a mid-tier player when you stack him against the best in the league overall, but Kyrou has at least given fans in Gateway City something to cheer about when goals have been hard to come by.

That said, if anyone would’ve earned a trip to the All-Star Game, it was Kyrou. Well, unless there were too many skaters already, so that may’ve opened the door for another

Dylan Holloway

With the likelihood that only one Blues player would have ended up in the All-Star Game, I’m going out on a limb here with Dylan Holloway. Still, we’re 51 games into the Blues season, and he’s only four points behind Jordan Kyrou, meaning he’d have been the likely alternate name if Kyrou, for one reason or another, couldn’t have made it.

His overall points total is 38, and Holloway also has 16 goals, a 13.7 shooting percentage, and 112 hits on the year. He’s found what should be a long-term role in the Blues top six, and was exactly the player Doug Armstrong sought in this mid-2020s retooling effort.

Jordan Binnington

Yep, you’ll see Jordan Binnington in the 4 Nations Face-Off, but that doesn’t mean the tournament didn’t rob him of an All-Star Game appearance. To date, Binnington has only earned one All-Star Game honor, and that took place in early 2020.

While his numbers have been behind some of the league’s best netminders, Binnington may have had an outside chance to make the show, thanks to his three shutouts. His 2.89 GAA also isn’t far off from what it was last season, and he’s still rocking a quality starts percentage over 0.500.
