The St. Louis Blues have to try and get back on track as they visit the Utah Mammoth on Friday. This will be the third meeting between these two teams, with the series tied up at one game apiece.
These three players should be able to make a big impact in this game, and hopefully erase that ugly 7-3 loss to Chicago out of everyone's memory.
Nathan Walker
In his first game back from missing 16 games, Nathan Walker stepped onto the ice against Chicago and made an impact. He had two hits, giving him 100 on the season, and then added a goal in garbage time at the end of the loss.
He will be an important member of the bottom-six forward group, and his contributions, no matter how big or small, will be crucial. The Blues are going to need him to apply a ton of pressure whenever he gets matched up against the Mammoth's high-octane offense.
Joel Hofer
Speaking of who needs to handle the Mammoth's high-octane offense, backup goaltender Joel Hofer will likely be in the net for the Blues. After that 7-3 debacle, and laugable moment behind the bench between Hofer, starting goaltender Jordan Binnington, and head coach Jim Montgomery, it is best to switch things up against Utah.
Hofer has been much better recently and could use this game against the Mammoth as another stepping stone. The last time the Blues and Mammoth faced off, the 25-year-old goaltender shut the door on a 1-0 shutout victory.
Can he do it again?
Jordan Kyrou
Jordan Kyrou is getting the chances, is getting more and more aggressive with the puck, but cannot find a way to finish. Can this scoring drought just end already?
The last time Kyrou was able to pot a circular disk of vulcanized rubber was nine games ago on December 1 against Anaheim. To reach back even further, he has only four goals in his last 20 games, dating all the way back to November 8. This has been an uncharacteristically difficult season for No. 25, and he needs to. break through in a big way soon, before the trade deadline rumors start to flow.
