3 takeaways from Blues 1-0 victory over Jets

Back in May, after the St. Louis Blues suffered that horrific game seven loss to Winnipeg, I’m sure everyone in the organization had this game on their mind. It was the rematch from that fateful night on Wednesday, and the Blues carried out their revenge, winning 1-0.

It was a hard-fought win, and it had that playoff atmosphere to it. Here are three takeaways from the win that may have changed the season.

Hofer earned his stripes

With his third-straight start, achieving his third shutout of the 2025-26 season, goaltender Joel Hofer may have earned his stripes with this win. There is a valid argument to be made that this might be his team now, as Jordan Binnington has not been able to keep this team in a winning situation in his last couple of starts.

The Jets are not the same team as they were a year ago, but their top line is just as deadly. Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, and Gabriel Vilardi have combined for 50 goals of the team's 97 on the season. Hofer blanked them.

Playoff preview, again?

Both the Blues and the Jets are on the outside looking in on the playoff picture. But, if both teams can play as they did against each other with other teams, this could be another playoff matchup again.

It would take a lot for that to happen, as Colorado and Dallas are running away from the rest of the pack of the Central Division. But crazier things have happened. If not a playoff matchup this postseason, it is fair to argue that the season series between these two will have that type of feeling to it. Both of these teams face off three more times, with the next two in Winnipeg.

Faulk is fantastic

Justin Faulk was the lone goal-scorer, and he has seriously resurrected his career this season. Much like Cam Fowler did after being traded to the Blues from Anaheim last season, Faulk is following the same blueprint.

The leading goal-scorer for the Blues is now a three-way tie with eight goals. Faulk joins Jordan Kyrou and Dylan Holloway, who are both out with injury.
