The St. Louis Blues are on a two-game winning streak against two very tough opponents. Their most recent win against the Utah Mammoth was an impressive 1-0 shutout victory.
That was the final game of November, and as the calendar flips to December, you can start to imagine the vibe of this team as the holidays hit full swing. Here are three things that all Blues fans should be wishing for as the big man will be rolling into town on the 25th.
Wish for stability
Above all else, the Blues have to become a more stable team. Either they establish themselves as a hockey team that has a chance to win games every night, or the emphasis should be on growth and development. No more roller coaster ride from this team.
Overall, this season has been on the disappointing end, but this most recent road trip and back-to-back home stretch have proved there is some hope left. Can they keep it up as we enter December?
Wish for goals
Let the Blues score, let the Blues score, let the Blues score. Hum that like "Let it snow", and hope that this wish comes true. Dylan Holloway broke away from the pack of six-goal scorers with his team-leading seventh of the year, tied with Jordan Kyrou, against Utah.
But there needs to be a player to really pull away from the pack. It is good to have an abundance of scorers, but with a team-high of seven goals at the 26th game of the season, it is not a great sign, as that is a pace for a team lead of 22 goals.
Wish for victory
Now at 9-10-7, the Blues are tied with the Chicago Blackhawks at 25 points for the tie of sixth place in the Central Division. The Colorado Avalanche are never going to lose again, and the rest of the Central Division playoff hopefuls are still very far from the Blues. Dallas and Minnesota round out the top three of the Division at 36 and 33 points, respectively. Not crazy far, but far enough right now.
In December, the Blues have a full slate with 15 games, with a good bunch of Divisional games. They face Nashville three times, Chicago, Winnipeg, and Colorado. With a tight race at the bottom of the standings, those games are going to be crucial. Fans have to wish for those games to be wins, and a majority of the 15-game slate for December to be winners.
