Most of the offseason activity around the NHL is complete, so it's time for analysts to sit back and see how teams look after the dust has settled.
The Athletic's Scott Wheeler put out his summer top 100 prospects list for players who have been drafted. The St. Louis Blues had five representatives on the list, but the top names might not be who some fans expect.
The first Blues prospect ranked by Wheeler is Jimmy Snuggerud at No. 27.
The 2022 23rd-overall pick made his NHL debut last season, putting up four points (one goal, three assists) in seven games at the end of the regular season and again four points (two goals, two assists) in the seven-game series against the Jets.
Snuggerud joined the Blues after completing his junior season at the University of Minnesota. He put up 51 points (24 goals, 27 assists) in 40 games while captaining the Gophers. He should be a big part of the Blues moving forward and could very well start the upcoming season on the top line.
After Snuggerud we go down just a few spots to Justin Carbonneau at No. 30.
The Blues selected Carbonneau with one of their three picks in this year's NHL draft. The 19th-overall selection has already decided to go back to the QMJHL for another season, which is ultimately probably best for his development.
Carbonneau has a bright future after recording 89 points (46 goals, 43 assists) in 62 games last season with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Standing at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Carbonneau might be ready for the NHL as soon as the end of the 2025-26 season.
Dalibor Dvorsky is up next for the Blues at No. 38.
Dvorsky was selected with the 10th overall pick in 2023 and has a full season of professional hockey under his belt. He scored 21 goals and added 24 assists for 45 points in 61 games with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL. He did get into two NHL games but did not record a point.
The two-way forward could see more time in the NHL in the '25-26 season, although the offseason additions of Pius Suter and Nick Bjugstad give the Blues a few veterans down the middle. Nevertheless, Dvorsky is someone to watch in the coming years for the Blues.
Another newcomer in Logan Mailloux is the next Blues prospect ranked at No. 70.
Mailloux is going to have to impress out of the gate in the upcoming season for some fans after the Blues traded away Zack Bolduc to get him. But Mailloux's ceiling is high as a 6-foot-3 right-shot defenseman.
The 22-year-old blueliner has played the majority of the last two seasons in the AHL, totalling 80 points (26 goals, 54 assists) in 135 games with the Laval Rocket. He also got seven games with the Canadiens last season, scoring two goals and two assists for four points.
Finally, Theo Lindstein rounds things out for the Blues at No. 91.
Lindstein has been playing professional hockey for a few years now with Brynas IF in the SHL, but he'll be making the transition to the North American game with the Springfield Thunderbirds this season. He had just nine points in 44 SHL games last season while playing against older competition, but he did have four assists in just seven games at the World Junior Championship.
The 20-year-old defenseman will be a name to watch in a few years for the Blues.
