The St. Louis Blues are finding themselves in a dire situation once again as they are being beaten by the Washington Capitals on the road. Alex Ovechkin makes history once again by becoming the first NHL player to have 900 career goals on a backhand shot that Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington was not expecting.
As the Capitals players poured off the bench to celebrate their captain, a particularly funny moment happened on the opposite side of the ice. Binnington had the history-making puck and had tucked it away into his girdle.
Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington tried to keep the puck for Alex Ovechkin's 900th goal 😅

Gotta respect the effort 😭 pic.twitter.com/g40TrMVglI
The referee had caught on quickly and Binnington gave it up for, presumably, the Hockey Hall of Fame to acquire. What a moment.
