After dropping their last contest to a red-hot Columbus Blue Jackets, 2-1, the St. Louis Blues look to get back over .500 by hosting the Calgary Flames.
Currently, the Blues hold a record of 20-20-4 for 44 points. They continue to struggle at home, as they have split their 4-game home stand thus far and dropped to 9-10-1 on the year.
The Flames are within earshot of a playoff birth via the Pacific Division and are 21-14-7 on the year for 49 points.
Let’s preview this one.
Tough test at home
As stated, the Blues have been rocky at home, which has been a sweet spot for them in previous years. Case in point, last season, Blues fans sitting in the Enterprise Center enjoyed a 25-14-2 record.
It has been a different story this season, and that is one of the reasons why this team cannot get over this middle-of-the-road hump. As high as the roller coaster goes up, it comes down and stagnates repeatedly.
The Flames are finding their issues on the road this season, with a 7-8-4 record. That might be a saving grace for the Blues.
The Blues offense will be a key factor for tonight’s matchup, as they were shut out in the last game against Columbus. A garbage time goal saved them from the goose egg, and it would have been the first time this season that they were shut out. Narrowly dodged a bullet on that one.
Puck drop for tonight’s matchup is 7:00 PM CT.
