The St. Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres have been in trade talks all day long in hopes of reaching some kind of transaction. First, it was for Robert Thomas, but then the talks on that halted. Then the reports flooded in on it being one of the defensive trade pieces by the Blues that were being moved.

Finally, it looks like the two sides have come to some kind of agreement. It is Blues defenseman Colton Parayko heading to Buffalo for Radim Mrtka and a first-round pick, pending official trade call.

Per Darren Dreger of TSN, it is widely believed that it will happen. Parayko has a modified No-Trade Clause and would have to approve of the move prior to anything being finalized. If this were the case, the Blues would lose their longest-tenured member on this active roster, as Parayko has been around since the 2015-16 season.

Insider Frank Seravalli also corroborated this, saying that the final answer is going to come from Parayko and his willingness to go to Buffalo.

The potential return is Mrtka, a first-rounder from the 2025 draft class that has been great down in the WHL and AHL. As a part of the Seattle Thunderbirds, he has one goal and 28 assists on the season for 29 points in 35 games. Looking at his build, he could be a copycat of Parayko.

This could be the first of many deals in the works from Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong before Friday's deadline. For now, we patiently await what No. 55 wants to do with his NHL future.
