The St. Louis Blues are set to start a five-game road trip with a nice weekly preview. Here is a roundup of news, insights, and happenings on the Blues and the rest of the National Hockey League.
Blues Brief
- The St. Louis Blues have a five-game road trip coming up, with visits in Toronto, Philadelphia, Long Island, Manhattan, and Newark. In case you are not fluent in the last three, it is the New York Islanders, New York Rangers, and New Jersey Devils.
- Head coach Jim Montgomery spoke on Jake Neighbours traveling with the team for this road trip and the chance that he can come back. It looks like we will all see No. 63 back in action before the end of next week.
- Some prospects are having some solid years and continuing to do so. Namely, Adam Jiricek, who is lighting up the OHL with seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 18 games.
- When the Blues suit up against the Toronto Maple Leafs, it will be Justin Faulk’s 1000th NHL game. He will become the 137th defenseman to reach that milestone.
NHL Brief
- The New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings had a nice uniform battle with their Centennial jerseys. What would follow is a 2-1 Detroit victory, and a post-game scrum that was captured, which was some old-time hockey.
Red Wings/Rangers highlights from last night; there’s the retro uniforms, the bench-clearing scrum, and the vintage camera filter to top it all off.

- Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy may be missing even more time after taking this wicked shot to the face in the B’s 3-2 victory over Montreal.
Pretty certain you can see McAvoy lose a couple of chompers if you zoom in

- The NHL continues to be wowed by the emergence of the young guns. The days of Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and Steven Stamkos may be coming to an end. But, Macklin Celebrini, Connor Bedard, and Leo Carlsson might be taking the next step to trying to recreate that iconic trio.
