The St Louis Blues nailed the 11th overall pick by drafting Tynan Lawerence out of Boston College. He is coming off a season where he registered 24 points in 21 games between the USHL and the NCAA. This alone should make Blues fans excited, but what will get them even more excited is the way Lawerence plays. When you watch him on the ice, you can't help but think of Patrice Bergeron. But why are these two players so similar?

Tynan Lawerence has the potential to the next Patrice Bergeron

Just like Bergeron, Lawrence is a two-center who can make an impact on both offense and defense. This versatility is what makes him such an intriguing prospect. Similar to Bergeron, Lawerence uses his high hockey IQ in order to get an advantage on offense. He is able to use his sense in order to find the holes in defense and find a way to get the puck into the back of the net. This should also get him considerable time on power play, something that Bergeron was famous for.

Lawrence is also not afraid to play physically on defense like Bergeron. He is also able to get into puck battles along the boards and act like a pest to get under opponents' skin. He may not always win these battles, but it's enough to slow down offensive chances. While not the main part of the game, he will also lay out a hit when needed. He is also able to break up passes with his ability to stick-check.

If he can play like Bergeron, he should be able to earn a spot in the Blues' top six for years to come. While he may not put on a Hall of Fame career like Bergeron, he should be someone who makes a significant impact for the Blues.
