After an eventful afternoon, the St. Louis Blues are set to faceoff against the Dallas Stars. This will be the first matchup of the two teams, out of three.
This afternoon, all eyes were on the deal with the Blues and the Anaheim Ducks. It was blue-liner for blue-liner, with Cam Fowler being the prize for the Blues. They acquired a fourth-round draft pick in 2027 and gave up Jerimie Biakabutka and a second-round pick in 2027. The sweet part of the deal, the Blues got him for absolutely free, as the Ducks retained the rest of his deal.
Let’s look at tonight’s game.
Central Division Rivals
This is a heated Central Divison rivalry, and as both clubs have been on fire lately, this should get interesting. This is the third time the Blues have had a back-to-back already this season, and have both of the first games in both sets. Can they hit the hat-trick and win tonight in Dallas, before flying back home for the New York Rangers tomorrow night?
At 14-14-2, for 30 points, the Blues currently sit in sixth place in the Central. Ahead of them with a record of 17-11-0, for 34 points, the Stars are narrowly ahead in third place. These two points are up for grabs and are major for both teams.
Rising star defenseman Philip Broberg will be skating in his 100th NHL game tonight. This season, alongside fellow offer-sheeter Dylan Holloway, have become leaders for this team. Holloway on the offensive front and Broberg on the defensive end have both made very positive impacts on the team.
For Dallas, they will rely on their best player in forward Matt Duchene. He leads the Stars with 12 goals, and 17 assists for 29 points. It is also worth noting, that with only 73 goals allowed this season, there is no one better than Dallas in the NHL. Both goaltenders, Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith have been sensational between the pipes this season. It will be Oettinger in tonight's matchup.
